He Graduated!!!
This past Thursday my first foster puppy graduated. We had him from Feb. 2006 to Feb. 2007. Then he was recalled and went in for formal training. He had been in training for 8 months and now he is with a client. He was chosen to be a seeing eye dog. When he graduated he was 92 lbs. He was always a big puppy, everyone at the kennels called him the horse. I got to say goodbye to him Thursday night at graduation. There is always a graduation for each class when the clients get matched up with the dog. The foster families of the dogs that are graduating are invited to come and meet thier forster puppies client and say goodbye to thier foster puppy. So we got to meet his client. She is very nice and told us she loves him very much. And even though he is so big he is very gentle. I am so proud of him!
My name is Rachele and I am from Ontario, Canada. I am a student at University and am studying to become a vetrinarian. I am also a foster parent for Service Dog puppies for an organization in Ontario. My mom and I have been fostering for almost a year now. We have the puppy fro 12 to 14 months and it is our job to socialze it by taking it out with us where ever we go, the bank, mall, grocery store, etc.. We also have to teach the puppy basic obedience like sit, stay, down. Then after about a year the puppy gets recalled and goes to the organization for formal training.
